Quit Smarter - the online smoking brief intervention?
Quit Smarter is an online smoking intervention that we believe will:
- Allow commissioning services to deliver brief interventions to a wider population.
- Deliver the interventions cost-effectively.
- Get more smokers using local Stop Smoking Services, or setting quit dates on their own.
- Provide unrivalled reporting.
- Generate automated referrals to Stop Smoking Services.
- Added evidence-based psychological techniques can improve its efficacy.
Problems solved by Quit Smarter
- Behavioural support, which can motivate a smoker into taking action, is simply not being delivered. Whilst 88% of smokers initially declare themselves not ready to quit, 35% of these would think about making a move towards a quit attempt , but they are not being 'nudged'. Quit Smarter can give that nudge.
- Lack of time and resources mean that not enough interventions are being delivered. Quit Smarter can resolve this.
- Even if interventions are being delivered, many smokers are dropping out of the pathway, i.e. simply not going to Stop Smoking Services or getting prescribed pharmacotherapies. Quit Smarter can stop them from dropping out.
- Many smokers are simply just not captured by front-life services. They could be too young to be identified at NHS Health Checks, or they may not visit their GPs or dentists. Quit Smarter can extend the potential reach.
